The Burnie Art Group was formed in 1952 and currently has a membership of approximately hundred artists from around the state. The group owns its own facilities at 211 Mount Street, Upper Burnie, and these facilities include a gallery, kitchen and studio.

The group's objectives are:
1. To hold exhibitions.
2. To bring prominent artists and works of art to the North West Coast.
3. To provide opportunities and facilities for the practice of art by members.
4. To hold art classes and workshops.
5. To encourage interest in and practice of art among student artist.
6. To co-operate with other organizations interested in the advancement of art.
7. To collect, receive, administer and invest funds for the above-mentioned objectives
8. To Hire the hall out for fund raising for the up keeps of the building.
